CAREPA began with regular get-togethers of Chinese-speaking real estate licensees in Alhambra. The association was formally founded on February 5, 1983, to unite Chinese real estate professionals, promote higher standards of conduct, and further the interest of home ownership.
1994
The association formally incorporated and began sharing joint activities with other Asian organizations, opening relationships with REALTOR® associations across the region.
1997
A monthly Chinese-language newsletter launched, translating articles on real estate practices and trends so members facing a language barrier could better follow industry news.
1999
The association moved to an English-only format for its activities, while membership continued to grow.
2001
CAREPA became a founding partner, alongside other national real estate organizations, in creating the National HOPE Awards to honor minority homeownership.
2002
The association took its current name — Chinese American Real Estate Professionals Association (CAREPA) — and expanded its advocacy on real estate issues.
Today
CAREPA hosts monthly dinner meetings with speakers, leadership summits, expos, and networking events — representing Asian Americans in the real estate industry and related fields.
